Help Us Evaluate AI-Powered Grading in Coursera

While using AI to enhance educational experiences shows promise, particularly in open online courses, there is still a lot to understand about how AI impacts learning. Duke invites you to join us in testing AI tools in live Coursera courses to help us determine the future of how we use AI.

In this pilot, our team of learning experience designers tested  AI-graded questions from Coursera. In a short practice assessment, you’ll answer an open-ended question that allows you to more deeply engage with the course content. AI will grade your response, tailoring feedback to your strengths and areas where you can improve.

Partnering with faculty across the disciplines at Duke, we’ve inserted one AI-graded practice activity into these popular Coursera courses:

We completed significant testing with these items before they went live, and we are proud to partner with Coursera, who centers values in their AI decision-making. Now, we want to hear from our learners about what does (or doesn’t) work for them when being graded by AI. Each course has one AI-powered activity as well as a form to provide feedback about the experience — and AI-use in general.

We welcome you to join the pilot and help us shape the future of learning on Coursera and at Duke. We’re excited about the possibilities to create more in-depth ways for learners to test their content knowledge  in self-paced courses!
