Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

With support from Online Duke, Queen Utley-Smith (School of Nursing) redesigned Health Promotion & Disease Prevention, a semester-long online course offered by Duke’s School of Nursing. The course is taken by students at Duke University’s School of Nursing, global health master’s students, and students enrolled at Duke Kunshan University (DKU).

The course was redesigned to support a student-centered approach to learning and to create a cross-cultural learning experience that brings in relevant examples from China. In addition, five new interactive lecture videos were created for the course, and the course team selected online communication tools to foster engagement between students at Duke and DKU.

The first session of the redesigned course ran in Fall 2016. The second session is planned for Fall 2017.
