Infectious Disease Epidemiology in Global Settings

Infectious Disease Epidemiology in Global Setting (DGHI Global Health 777) is the first fully online graduate-level course offered by the Duke Global Health Institute. The course is taught by three instructors—Wendy Prudhomme O’Meara, Matthew Rubach and Gayani Tillekeratne— based in Kenya, Tanzania and Sri Lanka. The course is based on a flipped classroom model, in which students watch pre-recorded video lectures before class sessions. The instructors host class meetings and office hours with web-conferencing software.

The course was first offered in Spring 2016. The course team conducted an evaluation of the project incorporating course data, student evaluations, and staff feedback. Recommendations based on this evaluation were incorporated into the second session of the course for Spring 2017.
